Jason Hart Replaces Brian Shaw as Head Coach of the G League Ignite

The G League Ignite have found their replacement head coach. Former USC associate head coach Jason Hart will be leading the program, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hart will replace Brian Shaw, who joined the Los Angeles Clippers staff as their top assistant under Tyronn Lue.

After dominating at Syracuse and leaving the program as their all-time leader in steals and second in assists, Hart was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 2000 NBA Draft. After nine years in the League and coaching stints at Taft High School in LA and Pepperdine, Hart joined the USC coaching staff in 2013 and has spent the last four years as the associate head coach.

The co-founder of the Black Coaches Association was very vocal on social media about the NBA’s recent number of new Black coaching hires. He responded to his own tweet about his hiring with “Spoke it into existence! #GodsPlan!”

The G League Ignite has been making an impact by signing top basketball prospects to play with and against G League competition in an effort to prepare them for the NBA draft. This past season, their roster included two projected lottery picks in the 2021 NBA draft: forwards Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga.
