REPORT: Jimmy Butler Expected to Sign Max Extension with Heat

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, 10-year veteran Jimmy Butler will agree to a max contract extension with the Miami Heat worth more than $184 million over the next four seasons during free agency.

Butler has been the heart, soul and engine of multiple franchises and his grit, work ethic and development have all been recognized over the past few seasons as he’s been named as a multi-time All-Star and All-NBA selection.

Now 31-years-old, the tough-nailed forward has been stamped as the face of the Heat, who traded for the veteran in July 2019 after his brief stint with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Ultimately, although the Sixers would retain their dominant standing in the Eastern Conference, Butler’s play would make the Heat a noteworthy opponent—one even capable of making it to the NBA Finals in 2020.

Universally regarded as one of the league’s best two-way forces, Butler averaged 21.5 points, 7.1 assists, 6.9 rebounds and a league-high 2.1 steals per game last season while shooting 49.7 percent from the field.
